Sedona, AZ

It was time for a day trip! Was about 2 hours one way so super doable - especially when your passenger princess offers to drive one of the ways. Rachel pulling her weight this trip! Although noted she did fall asleep during the car ride home.

We went straight to Beaver Creek Trail, slightly south of Sedona, which we’ve done previously so made it easy to not think about too many logistics. When we pulled into the parking lot there were Park Rangers with water containers to fill up at, really emphasizing the need to hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. When packing our backpacks before heading out, Liam even thought WWCD? As in ‘what would Calder do?’ lol because if you know Calder he is our navigation guru, hydration champion, and sunscreen police. So the extra water was in tow with us.

We also picked Beaver Creek for the watering hole that’s at the end or the middle depending how you look at it since it’s an out and back trail. We couldn’t wait to jump in and finally cool off. Throughout our way in, there was some thunder brewing that was echoing in the valley - didn’t make us nervous… Well no sooner had we gotten to the opening, jumped in the water (REFRESHING AS HELL), opened up our towels to dig in to our leftover turkey burgers did we start to feel the rain drops. We ignored this for a little while since we were entertained watching a group of teens figure out it they were too chicken or not to jump off the rocks. But then we were sitting in the rain so we decided to trek out.

We really can’t complain about the cloud coverage or rain since this brought the temp way down and we could finally consider the thought of even being cold.

As we were in absolutely zero rush, we sat at a local distillery to enjoy a cold glass and some live music. Oh and on our way there we did see a coyote start to stalk a guy walking his dog which we did begin honking our horn at. You could call us heroes.

Made for just a great day getting outside, with no service and no distractions.

All the best & HEAD WEST!
