Lake Powell (Prt 2)

We got to go back! During our first trip we saw this campground (Lone Rock Beach Campground) that was right on the shoreline and thought “wow we have to camp there”. That was even pre-Cherry Bomb, so we were envisioning tent camping which would have been totally okay but going back with the van was just too good.

As we headed up to the campground (10ish minutes North of Page, just over the Utah state line, no reservations needed), we were a little nervous given the sun had already set since the drive took a little longer with the excessive heat, taking the van, and towing the side by side. We read a handful of reviews to beware of getting stuck in the sand at the campground too. We made the executive decision to not drive all the way down and park in an upper gravel lot where we ended up just staying all weekend. There was an unobstructed view of Lone Rock and we could zip the 0.5 mile in the side by side down to the water.

While we got ready for bed that first night, we came to the very unfortunate discovery that our ceiling fan wasn’t working…. the outlet piece has somehow broke and we’ll need get in behind the walls to fix this…so lesson learned to really triple check everything before leaving :( . This made for a slightly hotter sleep, we actually slept with the doors wide upon, our magnetic mosquito net from Amazon was the best purchase. Oh! Also, for dinner that night we cooked up nachos that were a 10/10, so elite, master chef status.

After sun rise the temp was quick to climb back up to 100 degrees. With no set schedule we hopped in the side by side to scope out the rest of the campground. We found tons of trails and saw endless campers, trailers, dirt bikes, side by sides across the shoreline - another adult playground in action. We found a spot to park 5ft from the water and spent the rest of the day in chill mode. Our source of entertainment become watching trucks get stuck in the sand after being too ambitious.

We ripped a sunset cruise through some more of the beach front trails. Then a Head West photoshoot because the view was golden.

Sunday morning it was too hot to even open the camp kitchen for pancakes but thankfully we had plans to get out on the lake. Our dear friend Captain Mike was available and let us go out with him for a couple wake surf sets. Best local we know!

It’s still true, WE LOVE LAKE POWELL!
